City
Granada, the longest-lasting Arab kingdom in Spain (800 years of Arab occupation), celebrated the 500th anniversary of its fall to the Catholic kings Ferdinand and Isabella in 1992. The city is known worldwide for the “Alhambra Palace and Generalife Gardens”.
The Alhambra Palace is the finest and best-preserved example of Islamic architecture in Spain. Strategically located on a hill, this medieval fortress dominates the city, covering an area of 100,000 m², and is widely considered the eighth wonder of the world. Many of the original palaces, squares and fountains remain intact.
